The 2025 NFL season has officially ended with the Philadelphia Eagles as your Super Bowl 59 champions.
Before we dive into the big game, I wanted to quickly go over some news from around the league.
Cleveland Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett has requested a trade from the organization. This comes as no surprise at all to me. Cleveland has no direction as a team and as soon as Desaun Watson got signed they sent the franchise back at least 5 years.
Myles made it clear he simply wants to go to a winning team. Possible landing spots for Myles include the Lions, Commanders or even the Buffalo Bills.
The Los Angeles Rams have announced they will be seeking a trade for star receiver Cooper Kupp.
Cooper has had one of the most up and down career paths I have ever witnessed. After getting drafted in the third round by the Rams there weren’t many expectations on him to do well.
In his first couple of seasons Kupp was a great role player in the offense but never a star player. That all changed in 2021 when Cooper won the triple Crown, and the Super Bowl MVP, turning him a household name.
In the seasons following 2021, Kupp has not been able to stay healthy for a full 18 games. Los Angeles is transitioning into a new era where the young stars on the roster will be more heavily relied upon. Possible landing spots for Kupp include the Commanders, Chargers, and Steelers.
Now on to Super Bowl 59 and the dominant performance we saw from the Eagles. Going into the game I said that if Philadelphia was going to win then they would have to rely on star running back Saquon Barley.
As it turns out the Eagles offensive was just fine regardless on if Barkley had a good game or not. Jalen Hurts took full command of the offense, delivering an amazing performance on the games biggest stage.
As good as the Eagles offensive was, their defense might have even been better. The Chiefs struggled from the jump, they were only able to muster up one first down in the entire first half! Not to mention zero first half points as well.
Mahomes struggled basically the whole game to get the ball moving as the Eagles pass rush made it extremely difficult for him to find a groove. Philadelphia sacked Mahomes 6 times in this game, the most he has ever been sacked since getting into the league.
Mahomes was pressured on more than half of his drop backs in this game. That’s only happened one other time in his career and that was in Super Bowl 55 against the Buccaneers (which they also lost). The blueprint to beating Kansas City seems to be a relentless pass rush, we’ve seen it happen twice already and I’m sure plenty of teams will try to copy this formula.
Expect Kansas City to heavily invest in the offensive line this offseason. I think the Chiefs will be just fine in the long run. They still have many players under contract and as long as Andy Reid and Mahomes are there then they always have a chance to win it all. Although I doubt that Kansas City will get be another 15 win team next season.
For Philadelphia, except them to be another powerhouse in the league for years to come. They are one of the best drafting teams in the league and I don’t think that will change soon. Being able to replace hall of famers Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox with two young studs in only a couple years is nothing short of a miracle. Maybe this is the beginning of a new dynasty in the NFC. Only time will tell.
