For the last two Sundays, our games of the week have come down to the wire.
Last week I had picked the Rams over the Seahawks and they were able to come out with the win. It definitely wasn’t easy as Los Angeles won the game on a walk-off TD pass from Matthew Stafford in overtime. This win takes us to 3-2 on picks this season.
Stafford is now 5-0 against the Seahawks since becoming a member of the Rams. If you aren’t a believer in the Rams yet I think now is the time to jump on the train.
The NFC West is basically all separated by one game and it’ll be interesting to see if the Rams, Cardinals, or 49ers will be able to distance themselves from the rest of the pack. If Los Angeles can stay healthy they are my pick to take the division.
The New Orleans Saints have had one of the fastest collapses I’ve ever personally seen in a season. After two weeks the Saints were undefeated and quarterback Derek Carr looked like an MVP candidate.
Since those first two weeks, New Orleans has lost 7 straight games. This past week they reached rock bottom on the season after losing to the lowly Carolina Panthers. Not only did they lose this game but they also lost star receiver Chris Olave to his second concussion on the season.
On Monday it was announced that the Saints have fired head coach Dennis Allen. He has now been fired twice as an NFL head coach and both times Derek Carr was his quarterback.
Carr faced major criticism after the game from former teammates and family members of current teammates. Former Saints receiver Michael Thomas went on a Twitter rant about how poorly Carr has played and how he constantly puts teammates in danger. Chris Olave’s brother even joined in himself, reinforcing that he also thinks Carr is the problem.
Now at a 2-7 record, with no head coach, and the whole team seemingly turning on their quarterback, New Orleans has turned into a complete dumpster fire.
I guess it was fun while it lasted but Saints fans should be already looking forward to the 2025 season as their season is over.
Let’s go over some other news from around the League.
The Las Vegas Raiders continue to drop games and even fired their offensive coordinator after the blowout loss to the Bengals this Sunday.
In my opinion, the Raiders are simply tanking at this point to get a better pick in the draft. It’s obvious they have needed a quarterback for a while and with Shedeur Sanders tweeting “thank you God” after every Las Vegas loss I think I know who they are targeting.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned to the field in the last few weeks and has looked great. He’s playing the most efficient ball of his season and looks like he has put the most recent concussion behind him.
The sad reality is that Miami’s defense just isn’t good enough to keep them in competitive games. This past week Tua threw only 3 incompletions and had 2 touchdown passes but Miami still wasn’t able to win the game.
Tua’s injury seems to have cost the Dolphins their season, it is very unlikely they are able to dig themselves out of this hole and make the playoffs.
Lastly, the game of the week for this upcoming Sunday. I’m very excited to watch the game between the Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Commanders continue to prove people wrong this season. I was more excited about the future of this team since they have a first-year quarterback and head coach but they have been able to win right out of the gates.
Washington has won 7 of their last 8 games and hopes to continue that streak against Pittsburgh.
The Steelers come in riding high on a 3 game-win streak. I’ll be the first to admit when I’m wrong, Russell Wilson has improved this offense.
The timing of the quarterback change seemed suspect when it happened but the change was necessary. They’ve added a new dimension to the offense now being able to throw and run the ball more efficiently.
The books have the Commanders as 2-and-a-half point favorites to win this one. I’m going against them and taking the Steelers to win.
Not taking anything against Washington’s great season so far but their schedule has been pretty light. I just think Pittsburgh is too good defensively and they’ll take home their 4th straight win.
I don’t get paid to make decisions or have opinions but it’s always fun to take a deeper dive into the best stories of the week.
